Celebrate the beauty in the everyday with Let Poetry Be! Join us on November 17th at 5:30pm, for our English language poetry open-mic. This month’s theme is “Poetry Can Be Fun, and Funny” hosted by Alokparna Das.
If you're interested in participating, please write to alokparna.das@gmail.com and share the piece you'd like to perform! Only original works are allowed during the open mic.
Alokparna Das likes to find the funny in everything. Her first collection of light-hearted verses, 'Can the Center Hold?' was launched at Atta Galatta in August (and boy, did it land!). When she is not writing funny poems and children's stories, she is travelling or reading. Her favourite poets Odgen Nash, Brian Bilston, Dorothy Parker and Robert Frost have coloured her poetic temperament. When forced to be serious, she teaches, but if you listen carefully, you will hear muffled giggles. She knows alas, that verse doesn’t enrich the purse, nonetheless, she rises above the grief, and spouts out comic relief.
