From the magazine that brought you A Thousand Tomorrows, here is a new writing workshop, this time for horror!
Gear up toward a scary halloween with Ghosting 101, two four-hour workshops dedicated to writing horror, conducted by State of Matter, a South Asian speculative fiction magazine. These interactive workshops will introduce writers to horror as a speculative genre, and will mostly be geared toward writing scenes and short fiction.
Structure:
In the first workshop (October 22, 2023), we will discuss how to evoke fear, moving from a soft thought that sticks with you, causes your heart to flutter, and develop it into a story schematic and scene.
In the second workshop, we will discuss the elements of horror, taking a schematic and fleshing it out into horror that is lived in, not just thought of. These sessions can be attended in sequence or independently.
Audience:
This workshop is for writers who are either new to either writing or horror writing. Or people who are open to spend a couple of afternoons doing something creative. Or people who want to fill their Sundays and those of their friends with the dreadful scares of horrific monsters and haunted houses.
