Each performance on the I Would Dream tour is the poet’s own reading of her poetry with the ”most private space she will ever be revealing to the world” – including new, yet unreleased poems under the (working) title The Lost Letters.
Eeva Maria al-Khazaali performances and poetry readings are influenced by gestures and undertones of spoken word poetry – but do not quite fit the bill. Her work honors the 1950’s post-WW2 modernist tradition yet is aware of the contemporary works of her peers. In her readings, she likes to travel through memories and time, dedicating the tour to a muse.
The tour is a series of performances where she will examine concepts of love, heartache and thoughts of awakening beside her lover. The confessional tour could be described alike the book, That I Would Dream About on the publisher’s site: ”She is obsessed about the idea of women writing history, making their own stories heard and thoughts read by those she loves and those she doesn't yet know.”
Eeva Maria al-Khazaali is a feminist poet living in Oulu whose auto-fictional works have been enthusiastically received by both critics and readers nationally and gained some international interest. al-Khazaali’s poetry focuses on the possibilities of language, cinematic atmospheres and especially on expressing emotions.
