A Thousand Tomorrows is a four-hour workshop dedicated to writing science fiction, the literature of ideas, conducted by State of Matter, a South Asian speculative fiction magazine.
This interactive workshop will introduce writers to science fiction as a speculative genre, and will mostly be geared toward writing scenes and short fiction.
Structure: Broadly, the workshop will cover the basics of planning a story and making it believable. We shall begin with questions of theme and conceit and focus on planning a piece. Then, we shall engage with the brick-and-mortar elements of narrative storytelling: characters and settings.
Audience: The workshop is aimed at writers who are new to either writing in general or writing science fiction in particular or people who want to spend a weekend learning something creative. We aim to fill a Saturday afternoon with the ever-fascinating realms of science fiction and the not-so-complex act of drafting it
