In this edition, in partnership with Khula Manch, we have a Movie Screening: "the Economics of Happiness", and post movie discussion led by Ashwin Mahesh.
This much acclaimed movie takes us on a phenomenally insightful look at the world around us. And how better to end it, than with what promises to be an animated conversation with one of the most talented people in Bengaluru today.
About the Movie:
From the idyllic backyards of Ladakh, the movie makers take you on a journey across 6 continents, to explore all that we have done in the name of modernity. And it explores whether there is way ahead, that is kinder to our planet and to us.
The Economics of Happiness describes a world moving simultaneously in two opposing directions. On the one hand, government and big business continue to promote globalization and the consolidation of corporate power. At the same time, all around the world people are resisting those policies, demanding a re-regulation of trade and finance - and, far from the old institutions of power, they’re starting to forge a very different future.
Communities are coming together to re-build more human scale, ecological economies based on a new paradigm – an economics of localization.
